Spicy Beef in Coconut Milk

Ingredients :

  • 2 kg of  steak
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 4 large onions cut in to small pieces
  • 2 t/s fresh ginger
  • 2 sticks of cinnamon
  • 2 stalks of lemon grass
  • some  curry leaves
  • 4 t/s of curry powder
  • 1/4 cup of  vinegar
  • 1/2 pickled lime
  • 1/2 t/s fenugreek seeds
  • 2 cups thin coconut milk
  • 1 cup thick coconut milk
  • 1 t/s turmeric powder
  • 3 t/s ghee oil
  • some Salt
  • 3 t/s Chili powder

Method :

Wash the steak thoroughly with turmeric mixed water and drain the water. Cut the beef in to smaller pieces and add vinegar and some salt and mix it together. leave it for 15 minutes to marinate.

Heat up the wok and pour ghee oil along with curry leaves, chopped garlic, ginger and onions. Temper it until it gets a golden color, fry them for about 2-3 minutes and now add the beef pieces in to the mixer along with thin coconut milk.  After 2 minutes add fenugreek seeds, cinnamon, lemon grass, cloves , curry powder and Chili powder and let it cook for 5 minutes. Now it’s time to pour the thick coconut milk. Take off the wok from the cooker and add the pickled lime and stir it well.

Spicy Beef in Coconut Milk is always best served with hot rice or string hoppers.
